How Are Lab Grown Diamonds made?
Lab Grown Diamonds are created using one of two processes, Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and High Pressure High Temperature (HPHT). A small flat diamond seed is placed in a controlled carbon - gas environment. Great amounts of energy breaks down and the carbon atoms attach to the diamond seed. This seed then starts to grow layer by layer. About 4-6 weeks later, depending on the size, a gem quality rough lab grown diamond is born. The rough lab grown diamond is then sent to a cutting facility and mimics the same processes a mined diamond goes through.
